This Privacy Policy explains how EEVEE labs AS ("we", "us", "our") processes personal data in the Quizmaister mobile app and on related websites, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Norwegian Personal Data Act.

We are the data controller for personal data processed in the Quizmaister app and on the website where this policy is published.

We do not currently appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). Privacy requests should be sent to the email address above.

2. PERSONAL DATA WE PROCESS

2.1 Data you provide

• Account: email address, username / display name, profile picture (optional), authentication identifiers

• User content: feedback, suggested questions, and other content you submit in the app

• Consent and age: confirmation that you are at least 13, and acceptance of privacy terms

2.2 Data generated when you use the service

• Gameplay: ratings, ranks, wins/losses/draws, accuracy, match and challenge history, league participation, category performance, prestige frames tied to local league wins

• Social features: friends, friend requests, challenges, league memberships, in-app notifications

• Technical data: device type, app version, language/region, and (if enabled) push notification tokens

• Purchases: purchase status is handled by Apple / Google. We do not receive full payment card numbers

2.3 Website data

If you only visit or download this policy, we typically process only what is needed to deliver the page or file (standard server logs such as IP address, timestamp, and user agent). We do not use marketing cookies on this page unless separately disclosed on the website.

3. PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASES (GDPR ARTICLE 6)

• Provide the service (accounts, login, matchmaking, scores, league tables, friends) — Contract (Art. 6(1)(b))

• Security and abuse prevention (troubleshooting, account protection, anti-cheat) — Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

• Improve stability (aggregated insights about failures/usage) — Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

• Push notifications (match ready, leagues, friends) — Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); you can withdraw consent in device settings

• Legal obligations (responding to lawful authority requests) — Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

We do not sell personal data and do not use personal data for advertising profiling.

4. WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

We do not sell personal data.

4.1 Processors acting on our behalf

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, cloud functions, push messaging

• Apple App Store / Google Play — distribution and in-app purchases

4.2 Other players

Limited profile information may be visible to others as part of gameplay (for example username, rating, stats, emblems/frames, and league standings).

4.3 Authorities

We may disclose data where we are legally required to do so.

5. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Firebase/Google may process data in the EEA and in third countries. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards where required, typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the provider's documented transfer mechanisms.

6. RETENTION

• Account and profile — until you delete your account

• Game statistics — up to 2 years after last activity, then deleted or anonymised

• Match / challenge history — up to 1 year, then deleted or anonymised

• League records — while active and for a reasonable period afterwards, then aggregated or deleted

• Feedback — typically up to 24 months

• Push tokens — until you disable notifications or delete your account

• Website server logs — typically up to 90 days, unless longer retention is needed for security

You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete my account.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Under the GDPR you may have the right to:

• Access your personal data

• Rectification of inaccurate data

• Erasure ("right to be forgotten") where the conditions are met

• Restriction of processing in certain cases

• Data portability

• Object to processing based on legitimate interests

• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (without affecting lawfulness before withdrawal)

• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

We respond without undue delay and within one month where required by law (this period may be extended by up to two months for complex requests; we will inform you if so).

We may ask for reasonable identification before fulfilling a request, to prevent unauthorised access.

8. SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and Firebase security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Where required, we will notify relevant parties of personal data breaches under the GDPR.

9. CHILDREN

Quizmaister is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has created an account, and we will delete the data.

10. AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING

Ratings, rankings and match outcomes are calculated automatically as part of the game. This is necessary to provide the service and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects beyond gameplay (GDPR Art. 22).

11. CHANGES

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be published here with a new "Last updated" date and may require re-acceptance in the app.
